There's a great show on TV about me. It's called
History Detectives. Maybe you've seen an episode or two. It's not really about who I am, but it's about what I am. Truth be told, the show has nothing to do with me other than to illustrate what it is that I want to do with my life. I'm a life-long history fanatic who eagerly soaks up everything there is to know about times gone by. Whether scouring documents, books, and newspapers or traipsing through cemeteries, the drive to discover clues and root out answers is why I love genealogical research. It started with my own family history when I was a kid, a project that my father now oversees. I've since moved on to digging for my wife's ancestry as well as the history of the families and region in which I now live.
Surnames I am actively researching:
- Calhoun
- Hart
- Knoch
- McGregor
- Patrick
- Riley
- Robak
What's the significance of the name chosen for this blog? It's a reference to a quote by American literary figure Ralph Waldo Emerson that goes something like this: "Every book is a quotation; and every house is a quotation out of all forests and mines and stone quarries; and every man is a quotation from all his ancestors."
